VAG 2.0 TSI E888 Gen 1 & 2

The VAG EA888 Gen 1 and Gen 2 2.0 TSI (engine codes CCTA, CCZA, CAWB, CDLA, CDLB and friends) is the chain-driven evolution of the EA113 platform — the engine behind the VW Golf GTI Mk6 / Edition 35 / R Mk6, Audi A3 / S3 8P facelift / TT 8J 2.0 TFSI, Seat Leon Cupra 280 / 290, Skoda Octavia vRS Mk2, Tiguan and Eos. Strong block and head with a known weakness around the timing chain tensioner on early Gen 2 units, well-supported in the aftermarket once correctly built.
