The TFSI engine has a known flaw with the poor thrust washer solution.
It’s common for the OEM thrust washers to wear out, this causes the crankshaft and the block faces to meet and make contact. Once this has begun the only solution is to bin the crank and block for new items.
The issue is more common on models where the clutch has to be depressed to start the engine and especially when using heavier upgraded clutches.
Our upgrade over doubles the surface area of the thrust bearing faces. To complete this upgrade we require you to send us your centre main cap & thrust washers, we will complete the CNC modification and return the cap to you with a set of 4 Thrust Washers.
