Description
Cat Cams offers two camshaft product lines to cover most of their applications. Cast is the more commonly used for most high performance build, but for very high lift then Billet may be the only way.
Where pricing is an important issue for ‘conventional’ applications, we provide high quality chilled cast iron camshafts. Typical example would be fast road and moderate competition camshafts. It is not a matter of material quality, but rather availability of castings with sufficient material on the camlobes as these are only available for a limited number of big volume applications.
Below is a mixture of grinds we’ve gathered info for. Everything 36xx is a hydro grind and anything 37xx is mechanical.
Please bear in mind though that there are some very high lift/duration drag race and naturally aspirated camshafts in this selection. The most commonly selected sizes for a 400-600hp big turbo build are 3651, 3658 or the VVT safe 3665’s. The 3652 for example is a drag race camshaft which will not perform desirably on a road going car.
