ARP is the go-to manufacturer in the automotive industry for engine fasteners. Whether it be OEM replacement parts or custom hardware, their dedication to consistent top notch quality has made them a favourite in the racing world.

These ARP head studs for 06A 1.8T engines are made from premium grade 8740 alloy steel which is rated far superior to many “aircraft quality” competitors. The studs are heat treated to 200,000 psi then thread rolled afterward, giving them twenty times better fatigue strength over studs threaded prior to treatment (a common practice with lesser quality studs). These high-quality head studs will ensure your head gasket stays firmly planted under even the most extreme boost conditions. These parts are manufactured in the U.S.A. and are 100% re-usable.

The 06A 1.8T engine is a tricky one to make studs for because of the very tight access to the nuts. ARP has finally launched a stud kit in addition to their bolt kit for this engine. The studs offer easier assembly, and are only loaded with minimum torsion when they are tightened. This makes them even better in that they achieve the required clamping force more reliably. The downside is they do cost a bit more than the equivalent ARP bolt kit.

I had heard of teething issues with early ARP head studs on the 20vt, these have no such issues.

These are the revised & trouble free studs needed for the 20vt, the larger shoulder & contact interface between the nuts and cylinder head gives extra confidence when torquing the head down and the extended nut height makes install & removal even easier!

No problems to report after heat cycling & re-torquing, motor is now bedded in, with nothing to report. They just work.
